Readings

Our readings in September follow the Lectionary as usual for the first two Sundays and on the final Sunday of the month we celebrate Harvest Festival.  On the remaining two Sundays (16th and 23rd September) we begin a short series of sermons that will help us think about what God’s vision for us might be over the next few years, and how it will shape our activities.  There will be two further sermons in this series on 14th and 21st October.   This forms part of our process of listening and learning in preparation for the Parish Workshop on Saturday 27th October “Shaping our Vision for the Future”

Family Worship

2nd September at 10.00am

This is an informal, non-Eucharistic, service for people of all ages, both young and old. But we would particularly encourage those with young families to come along and join with us. The service will last about an hour and there will be refreshments afterwards, and an opportunity to meet with other people.

Next month Family Worship will be on 7th October at 10.00am and we will be thinking about disability as this is “Disability Sunday”

Home Communion for the sick and housebound

Members of the Pastoral Team, which consists of the clergy, Lay Pastoral Assistants and Readers, are able to take communion to the sick and housebound.  This usually takes place after the Communion Service in church, usually on a Wednesday.  If you or anyone you know is unable to come to any of the services, either in Holy Rood, Knowlewood Knap or Hyde Place please let me know, and I will arrange for you to receive communion at home.

Hospital Visiting

If you know of someone in hospital who would appreciate a visit from a representative of Holy Rood Church, (normally Rhona, Judy or one of our Lay Pastoral Assistants) do please let me know.  We have no way of knowing who is in hospital unless you let us know. It doesn’t matter if they are not regular churchgoers.
