READINGS IN APRIL

1st April Palm Sunday

Isa. 50: 4-9a

Phil. 2:5-11

Luke 22:-23:56

As Jesus rides into Jerusalem on a donkey, and the crowds welcome him, we sense both the joy at the Messiah being acclaimed, and the heaviness of his suffering which follows. Jesus’ mission is drawing to its fulfilment

8th April Easter Day

Acts 10:34-43

1 Cor. 15:19-26

John 20: 1-18

It is true. Jesus is alive for all time. The Lord of life cannot be held by death. God’s victory over sin and death means that new life for us is a reality.

15th April 2nd of Easter

Acts 5:27-32

Rev. 1:4-8

John 20: 19-31

Having seen Jesus in person, the disciples are convinced of the Resurrection. We too can meet him personally.

22nd April 3rd of Easter

Acts 9:1-20

Rev. 5:11-14

John 21: 1-19

Those who know Jesus and recognise that he is the anointed Saviour are commissioned to go out as his witnesses to proclaim the good news.

29th April 4th of Easter

Acts 9:36-43

Rev. 7:9-17

John 10:22-30

Asked if he really is the Christ, Jesus directs his questioners to look at his life in action and see for themselves that he and the Father are one.
