Women’s World Day of Prayer

Friday 3rd March

Wool Methodist Church 2.00pm Speaker Jean Hughes

Holy Trinity West Lulworth 7.00pm Speaker Elizabeth McKenzie

On Friday March 3rd over 3 million people worldwide will be taking part in the Day of Prayer Service prepared by Christian women of South Africa on the theme Sign of the Times. In every participating country services will be held throughout the day in many and varied locations. Women, men, children and young people from different backgrounds will pray and worship together.

Often called the Rainbow Nation, South Africa is one of the most ethnically diverse countries in Africa.

South Africans share a rich and varied culture- warm hospitality, a deep sense of spirituality, music, a love of sport and the outdoors, and ubuntu- a particularly African concept focusing on a respect for human dignity.

HIV/AIDS together with TB and malaria are the major threats to health all of which are exacerbated by the extreme poverty. Women are particularly at risk; more than 59% of those infected with HIV/AIDS are women. Poverty and HIV/AIDS have taken a heavy toll on the children, giving rise to a growing number of orphans, many of whom are also infected with the virus.

Do come along to join with us and people praying across the world, praising God and bringing the world’s needs to Him.
