The Church Of The Holy Rood -- Wool, Dorset, U.K.
Arriving by car
If you want to find the Holy Rood Church building using a satnav, you may like to know the Church Building's postcode is:
Bear in mind this will probably guide you up narrow and winding Church Lane - where parking is extremely limited. Do read the parking section below.
On the subject of postcodes, the church building is a bad choice for addressing any letters: do use the Vicarage postcode (see Who's Who page) instead for correspondence.
The School car park has steps down to the school buildings. It can be used on Sundays only, by those attending services. Otherwise we encourage you to park on the High Street, Colliers Lane or Spring Street. The School car park is accessed via a separate driveway (just beyond the school entrance, when heading towards Lulworth).
Please leave the very limited parking in Church Lane* for those with restricted mobility.
Wherever you park, please make sure you do not block any gateways, or make it difficult for residents to get in and out of their drives in their vehicles, or close to junctions.
Considerate parking is a great way to love thy neighbour!
*Car parking in Church Lane - warning!
Church Lane is narrow, winding, and is a moderately busy cul-de-sac with no footpath. Whether driving or walking, great care is needed at all times.
Parking in Church Lane is extremely limited. Please always bear in mind the needs of residents, farm and emergency vehicles, hearses and bridal cars, people with disabilities, etc. Please do not park in the turning area in the dead end at the top of Church Lane, as this prevents other vehicles from turning round, and blocks access to fields for large farm vehicles that may be forced to squeeze past your car. Contrary to most people's expectations, this is a very active agricultural area.
There is some on-street parking elsewhere in Wool, and it all involves a walk up Church Lane.
If you require further advice please email the vicar:

The main Church Lane entrance is unfortunately not recommended by any of our wheelchair users. It involves getting any wheelchairs up the fairly steep, awkward, and potentially dangerous slope. However there is a slope that is a bit easier to the left of the church as you look from the lane that may provide wheelchair access.
Access for wheelchairs via the school entrance is also difficult, especially following the 2013 building works at the school. There is a level access via the school grounds (which involves a fairly sharp turn up a small ramp negotiable with care) but this is only available when the school is closed on Sundays and in any case the ramp is often obstructed by residents' vehicles and this route will not necessarily include any associated parking.
There is however a wooden ramp in place in the church's north porch which helps to get access over the step up into the church.
There are lavatory facilities (with disabled access). The toilet is located beside the store on the south side of the main church building. (It is usually left unlocked during services or else can be unlocked by the duty sidesperson or verger on request.)
