Parish News March 2007

‘Thy will be done’

Just four words that I’m sure many of us have said numerous times when we have said the Lord’s Prayer.

But have we ever stopped to think what we are saying?

Aren’t we’re taking a bit of a risk asking God for His will to be done?

That God’s will be done in our lives and in the church could present us with a challenge.

It means putting aside our own selfish ideals and ambitions, and putting our trust in God, who longs to see his will done in our lives and in the community we serve.

Over the past 2 ½ years we have met every Friday evening to pray for the parish, and in particular for a new incumbent. Perhaps when we started to meet we thought somebody would be appointed in the very near future, but that was not to be.

But we do believe that it is God’s will and his timing that we have now been able to appoint the Revd. Rhona Floate as Priest in Charge of this parish. In addition Rhona will also have a Deanery responsibility, and we hope to work more closely with the neighbouring benefice of the Lulwoths, Chaldon and Winfrith Newburgh.

Rhona was ordained in 2003, and is presently Assistant Curate in The Mid Fosse Parishes in the Diocese of Coventry.

We look forward to officially welcoming her to the Parish and the Deanery at her licensing on Wednesday 16th May in Holy Rood Church. (details to follow)

Please continue to pray for this parish and for Rhona as she prepares to come to Wool.
