From the Parish News . . .Choices for the New Year
Happy New Year to you all. Like most people I will be making some New Year resolutions. Some of these I will be able to keep, however, I know that others I will struggle with and more realistically will probably fail in. These are choices I have to make. Like the choice the wise men made in following the star to Bethlehem. What a long journey they had, and at times they must have wondered if they were going in the right direction. They would have met many people along this journey, and some would have questioned their decision to pursue the journey, but any uncertainties they might have had didn’t prevent them from continuing. The wise men carried on until they met with God’s gift in Jesus. As Christians we are on a journey. As we know only too well, preparation is an important part of any journey and during Advent we have been called to prepare to meet the infant Jesus at his birth in Bethlehem. During the season of Epiphany we celebrate the coming of the wise men to meet the infant Jesus; their journeys end had exceeded all their expectations. This special gift of God’s love in Jesus is with us today on our journey, for each and every one of us. Perhaps we will find more than we can ever imagine.
