Parish Vision and Plan 2010

Our vision is to be a church without walls, moving people towards Christ, where we live, work and play

We seek to do this through the whole range of church activities.

Each year the PCC spends time together reviewing them and listening to one another and to God to discern what our priorities for the future. We break our activities down into three areas while recognising there is a significant overlap between them. They are:

bulletFinance, Administration and Buildings
bulletWorship, Fellowship and Discipleship
bulletChurch in the Community, e.g. social events and fund-raising

A rolling three year programme sets out key areas for us to focus our efforts.

The Three Year Programme 2010-2012

By the end of 2010

1.  Administration, Buildings and Finance

a.  Churchyard Extension Ready for Use - Substantial progress toward the acquisition of land from the Weld Estate had been made by the end of 2009.

b.  Magazine – address issues outlined in Andrew’s Quo Vadis paper, recruit new editor, address other printing requirements when magazine equipment lease is terminated

c.  Jargon and routine business –

seek ways to allow all PCC members to understand jargon

seek ways to create more time for the spiritual aspects of church life as well as routine business

create specifications for key roles in church life, e.g. Wardens, magazine editor etc

2.  Fellowship Worship and Discipleship

a.  Review of Revive - A Report to PCC early in 2010 which agreed with the recommendation that Revive should continue.

b.     Parish Away Day - Autumn/Winter 2010, to encourage the whole congregation in their journey of faith, and an opportunity to gather different congregations together.

c.     Develop midweek, evening study/homegroup – autumn/winter 2010/2011.

3.  Church in the Community –

a.  New Social and Fundraising Programme – Main programme put together by February 2010.

b.  Active engagement in Bovington – monitoring and supporting Cologne Road project

By the end of 2011

1.  Administration, Buildings and Finance

a.  Toilet Block - Fund raising and transfer to the building fund during 2009 paved the way for seeking planning permission in 2010 and an appeal to raise the remaining sum required.

2.  Fellowship Worship and Discipleship

a.  Review of complete pattern of worship services

3.  Church in the Community –

a.  Social and Fundraising Programme – ongoing, with mix of fundraising for church and wider community causes, and some just for the fun, bringing different congregations together as well as wider community.

b.  East Stoke – visiting or other forms of contact

By the end of 2012

1.  Administration, Buildings and Finance

 a.  Re-ordering rear area of church to accommodate wheelchairs, buggies, and provide more flexible space for fellowship and other gatherings

2.  Fellowship Worship and Discipleship

a.  Implementation Review of Services

3.  Church in the Community –

a.  Social and Fundraising Programme – ongoing, with mix of fundraising for church and wider community causes, and some just for the fun, bringing different congregations together as well as wider community.

Looking further ahead

We need to be looking for opportunities to develop a church/community centre as an additional centre for worship and other community engagement that is fully accessible, with adequate parking and other facilities especially as Wool continues to expand.
